Weekend schedule

This introductory workshop invites both teachers and practitioners to explore the relationship between yoga and trauma through the lens of traditional yogic wisdom. Rather than layering Western psychology onto yoga, we will take a decolonized approach, rooted in the philosophy, practices, and language of yoga itself.
This workshop is for all practitioners and is designed to both inspire new practitioners and enrich the practices of experienced teachers. If you’re new to this topic, we highly recommend you start here. Teachers joining us for workshops throughout the weekend are especially encouraged to join us for the richest overall experiences.Together, we’ll explore the yogic understanding of samskara, the imprints that condition our reactions to the world, and how these teachings outline a compassionate path for healing and recovery. Through guided practice, reflection, and discussion, we’ll develop an understanding on how focusing on the concentration and attention practices of yoga can become a vital part of the trauma healing process.
This course is facilitated by Jessie Horness, MA, LPC, E-RYT 200.
Yoga teachers participating in this course will be eligible for 2 Yoga Alliance CEUs.

This workshop, designed for yoga teachers and facilitators, will explore how orienting toward process can create classes that are more supportive for students navigating trauma and recovery. Through discussion, self-inquiry, and experiential exercises, teachers will gain empowering, applicable skills to start creating more trauma-supportive yoga experiences for their students. This workshop is designed for teachers, by teachers, about teaching. Those looking to deepen to their personal practices are recommended to join us for Yoga & Trauma 101, as this course is focused on teaching skills.
We’ll consider processes from various lineages, and explore how these methods align with Western psychology’s growing understanding of trauma healing. We’ll build skills for starting to bring these processes into your classroom, including fostering interoception, cultivating new relationships with sensation and stimuli, and engaging the nervous system in ways that encourage balance and resilience. By focusing on process, participants will learn how to create spaces that honor yoga’s roots while supporting your students’ healing journeys.
This course is facilitated by Jessie Horness, MA, LPC, E-RYT 200.
Yoga teachers participating in this course will be eligible for 3 Yoga Alliance CEUs.

Ayurveda, yoga’s sister science, offers timeless tools for balance and resilience, insights especially valuable for yoga teachers supporting students navigating trauma. In this workshop, we will explore the three gunas - sattva (clarity), rajas (activity), and tamas (inertia) - and how they shape the mind, body, and daily life. Through guided discussion and experiential practices, you’ll learn to recognize the gunas within yourself and your teaching, and explore ways to cultivate balance through simple, accessible tools from Ayurveda and yoga. We’ll also connect these skills to trauma-supportive teaching, highlighting how cultivating balance, awareness, and grounding can help you hold space with steadiness and compassion.
This course is guest instructed by experienced yoga teacher and Ayurvedic Health Coach Danielle DePompei, with instruction on trauma-supportive teaching provided by Jessie Horness, MA, LPC, E-RYT 200.
Yoga teachers participating in this course will be eligible for 2 Yoga Alliance CEUs.

This workshop invites yoga teachers to explore the relational dimensions of trauma-supportive teaching. We will look closely at how power shows up in teacher–student relationships, and why recognizing and acknowledging these dynamics is essential to creating spaces of safety and trust.
Together, we will consider how teachers can practice being “a safe person to feel unsafe around,” cultivating important skills for holding space for students’ vulnerability and unique experiences. Topics will include understanding and working with power dynamics, supporting student consent, and cultivating practices of self-resourcing for both teachers and students.
Through reflection, discussion, and experiential learning, participants will gain insight into how their presence, choices, and relational awareness can profoundly shape the classroom environment. This workshop supports teachers in developing the skills needed to create trauma-supportive classes rooted in respect, choice, and compassion.
